The HVAC Design Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, and layout of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role involves using specialized software to create detailed plans and specifications that meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulations. The HVAC Design Engineer will work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems into building designs.
Responsibilities:
– Create detailed HVAC system designs, including heating, cooling, and ventilation plans.
– Develop layout drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD,
– Perform load calculations to determine the heating and cooling requirements of spaces.
– Select appropriate HVAC equipment and systems to meet these requirements.
– Prepare comprehensive technical documentation for HVAC designs, including schedules, equipment lists, and specifications.
– Maintain accurate records of design iterations and modifications.
– Work with engineers, architects, and project managers to integrate HVAC systems into overall building designs.
– Provide technical support during the construction and installation phases.
– Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA).
– Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies.
– Continuously improve design processes and outcomes.
Requirements:
– Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related field.
– Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HVAC design and drafting.
– Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
– Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and principles.
– Experience with load calculation software (e.g., HAP, Trane TRACE).
– Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA).
– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
– Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
– Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
– Professional certifications (e.g., LEED, HVAC Designer certification) are a plus.
