Job Purpose

The Head of Global Broadcast Technology is responsible for leading the strategic direction, development, and operational excellence of broadcast and AV technologies across all studios. This role ensures the seamless integration of cutting-edge video, audio, and infrastructure systems to support high-quality production workflows, live broadcasts, and immersive content experiences.
 
Acting as both a technical authority and a global team leader, the Head of Global Broadcast Technology drives innovation, standardization, and scalability while aligning technology solutions with creative, operational, and business goals.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of 3 to 5 AV Engineers, AV Specialists and AV Technicians, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and performance oversight.
  • Act as the functional lead for additional Global Team Leaders who oversee similar technical responsibilities across various studio locations 
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of Audio Video systems and technology for game shows — from proof-of-concept and technical design to installation, testing, and go-live readiness.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Creative Teams and Studio Operations to ensure AV technology and equipment align with game design, user experience, and studio production constraints.
  • Drive the Research & Development (R&D) initiatives related to emerging broadcast technologies, new production workflows, and AV innovations to maintain industry leadership.
  • Ensure consistency, compatibility, and scalability of AV infrastructure across all existing and new studio sites globally.
  • Develop and enforce technical standards, system documentation, and operational best practices across the Audio Video engineering function.
  • Support planning and execution of infrastructure upgrades, system integrations, and studio technology expansions.
  • Oversee and support incident resolution processes, including root-cause analysis and continuous improvement across AV systems and studio/server hardware environments.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and support during high-priority installations, technical escalations, or complex integrations.
  • Travel internationally to support new projects, oversee deployments, conduct training, and ensure alignment across global studio locations.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning within the AV team.
  • Track and report on AV performance metrics, and service levels to inform strategic planning.
 
Requirements
  • Advanced understanding of imaging concepts such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and lens dynamics, applicable in cinema and broadcast camera operations.
  • Proven experience in electronic engineering and working with communication and signal transport equipment.
  • Advanced operational proficiency with professional video cameras and production switchers.
  • Solid experience with live Virtual Studios, chroma keying and real-time compositing workflows.
  • Strong understanding of various NDI and SDI infrastructure, including signal routing and diagnostics.
  • Adequate color vision and hearing necessary for evaluating broadcast-quality audio and video.
  • Strong IT and project management skills, particularly in broadcast or AV technology environments.
  • Effective communicator and team leader with strong people skills and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and fault-diagnosis skills in high-pressure production settings.
  • High attention to detail, time management, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to handle shifting priorities, time zones, and live production demands.
 
Nice to Have
  • Experience leading or contributing to virtual production and extended reality (XR) environments.
  • Familiarity with IP-based video infrastructure and broadcast-over-IP standards (e.g., SMPTE 2110, NDI).
  • Background in developing or enforcing global technical standards and documentation practices.
  • Experience working in multi-site, international production environments.
  • Deep knowledge of optical behavior and advanced camera sensor technologies.
  • Familiarity with hybrid or cloud-based video production pipelines.
